Friendly reminder:

-We specialize in Young Adult to New Adult fantasy with romance, mystery, dystopian, Sci-Fi, and thrillers.

-We specialize in standalones, duologies, and trilogies. If your book is planned to be longer than a three-book series, we may not be the best fit.

-Please only submit your manuscript once you have self-edited multiple drafts and have had feedback from beta readers other than family and friends.

-We are not the best fit for non-fiction, horror (especially anything paranormal outside of fantasy), hefty use of profanity (think every sentence), or multiple explicit sex scenes.

-While we don't specialize in contemporary romance, historical fiction, adult fiction, or novellas, if you want to work with us, then please still submit!

-We do not accept anything that has been taken or plugged into any generative AI platforms.

-We accept queries from agented and non-agented authors

-We accept previous self-published submissions! If your work is previously self-published, please indicate in your query letter the publication date and all sales details. Please also include why you would like to work with us, and why you would like to republish your book.

If you are interested in submitting to Poison Oak Press, please send your submission with the subject title "SUBMISSION: (YOUR NAME), (MANUSCRIPT TITLE), (GENRE), (MANUSCRIPT WORD COUNT)" to contactpoisonoakpress@gmail.com, and include the following:

-Please include your query letter in the body of the email. Make sure this is a professional query letter and is error-free.

-Check your manuscript's word count, and make sure it is within its genre's word count standards.

-In the body of the email, please also include: An author bio, if you have published other titles before, and whether this manuscript is planned to be a standalone or continued in a series, and how many books, if so.

-Include your complete manuscript as a PDF attached to the email.

-Include a PDF of your manuscript's complete synopsis attached to the email. PLEASE research what a synopsis is and how to write one before submitting your query. A synopsis is different than your book's summary.

We will reach out within 6-12 weeks with our decision.
